My name is Liz Bennett. I have taught for 35 years in Garretson, 14 years as an adjunt instructor at Southeast Technical Institute, and have taught Frontpage Webdesign to teachers from 1999-2007 during the TTLs, TIE, and through workshops at the University of Sioux Falls. We are now ready to tackle a new project together: SHAREPOINT! Mission Possible!

In this course, teachers will learn how to create online collaborative environments and manage Web pages using a program called Microsoft Office SharePoint Services. This program will allow teachers to create their own personal Web-based learning spaces, which can be accessed by students in their respective classrooms. Teachers will be able to post their syllabus, spelling lists, newsletters, teacher hours, create a class calendar, post homework assignments/ documents, and create activities that promote student collaboration and communication: blogs (Web logs) and Wikis (a collaborative Web site that allows users to add, remove, edit, content).

•    Transcripts will be in Spring 2012 and will be free from USF. USF will not issue a grade report to each participant; however, participants can request a transcript free of charge by downloading a transcript request form from www.usiouxfalls.edu•    Syllabus Overall--expectations: no paper, a GREAT classroom website for your class and parent communication.•    Sample Portal Sites--what kind of sites other schools have.

o  Quick links and Web Parts (creation, modification, and deletion)

•    Permission management on existing sites

•     Set up multiple sites based on the first webpage, one per subject or class taught, i.e. Spelling, German 7^th Hr. etc.and review permission rights. Share our sites and review. EVERY site we make will have a picture library, link library and document library. Work on sites to have information about class and class textbook image.

•    Document Sharing--talk about. Show sample classroom

•    Calendar: Assignments and Events--show uses in assignments for each day

•   Work with top link bar and add Garretson School District http://garretson.k12.sd.us, SD Core Standards http://doe.sd.gov/contentstandards/

and Common Core Standards Links http://www.corestandards.org/    Make a link library.​

SESSION 2 February 8 3:45-7:30 pm

•    Homework DUE: 10-12 pictures of your class in action.

•    Every site should have a picture library for logo, document library, link library. Check spelling on all pages.

•    Design a picture library and slide show.

•    Look at ipiccy.com for image size and editing
•    Add Announcements web part.

•    Look at announcement and calendar views

•     Link Calendar to outlook. Link Word to MS Word. 

•   Look at newsletter options--typing it on a page, document library as word and as pdf.

•   Look at everyone's site. Homework: you tube video for next week.

SESSION 3 February 15 3:45-7:30 pm

•   Embed a movie from You Tube for each class you teach

•   Embed a widget-- like book leveler

•   Blog activity--Garretson Blog server as well as Sharepoint

•   Wiki activity--Garretson Wiki Server as well as Sharepoint

•   Discussion Board/Threaded discussions

•   Permission management for classroom sites/workspaces--all students with K-12 email address. Need read and write permissions to contribute to blogs and discussion boards.

•   Banners for different page--publisher.

•    Activity: Site Sharing

•    Review, Q&A

•    Evaluations
